Paintball

Saturday, 12th July 2008

I peeled my sleepy eyelids open early morning at 6 to get ready forrr.... TAG PAINTBALL!!!
It was a event organised by one of our VVIP client companies, meant to be a merged team-strengthening event between 3 different companies, including my own. Yup so we headed down to the Orchid Country Club at 8am, each with bags of clothes for change after the messy dirty game.

That's me in action, with my hair swishing like a Rambo Girl
as I pick up my pace into the battlefield armed with the weapon of destruction.

The game was not bad, but i sort of expected more.
I mean, there was a lot of hype around it when it was first introduced, but it didn't live up to my expectations. I think the Laser version is more fun.

What we got out of it;
- VERY very bad bruises on all parts of the body imaginable
- Scraped bloody elbows & knees from tripping & falling
- A LOT of pain
- Dehydration under hot sun
- Dirty clothes
- Paint in our hair
- Triumph when victorious
- Frustration when defeated
- A minor scuffle when someone felt the referee kayu
- Etc.

Ask me if i'd play it again, probably... but with people i'm more familiar with... like personal friends.
It's more fun that way.
Playing with strangers is very, urm, restrictive.
Don't know why.

I secretly feel whole fun element level isn't worth the effort & injuries.
But what do i know?
It might be different for you.

New Acquirees!

We've got new phones recently.
Yup, both of us decided to have a little change, sighting the recent gush of promos and all.
The queues were disgustingly long and finally seeing our number BEEP up after over 3 hours almost made me do a little tap dance right there.
Haha, but all's well and we got what we wanted. Luckily.
I mean, imagine being in the wait for so long, and then them telling us there's no stock left.
Argh. I would slit somebody's artery & rip a random head off.

But the sunrays were beaming down at us and yay, out of the battle!
We really love our new devices, and keep getting jealous over each other's.
The grass is always greener on the other side no?

Anyways, I got the LG KU990 Viewty in black. Elegant & stylish... A ladies' phone through & through.

My new phone. Specifications here.

Darling got the Nokia e71 in Grey Steel. Professional looking & very very pretty, shade similar to chrome.

His new phone. Specifications here.

Alrighto... TV time!

The guy, his family, & his girl.

Pics were taken after a satisfying steamboat meal with Sweetheart, Sweetheart's Mom Aunty Madalene, & sister the ever pretty Melissa.

I super love Mel's smile!!! Especially in the pic she took with her mom. ARGH she has such pretty happy eyes & a very beautiful smile!!! I hope, if i marry him la, my children will rub off all these good 'strong features' genes from his side. The very-obvious double eyelids, the deep-set eyes, the super high nose bridge, the naturally very neat brows, the tofu white skin, the very straight teeth, the height, etc etc.

Personally being a rather 'soft-featured' person, I would really want my kids to have sharp features & a high nose bridge.

And Aunty Madalene seriously doesn't look her age at all. She looks at least 10 years younger! And has tofu skin too... Ahhh they really have all the good genes in terms of looks.

Once again, i glance hopelessly at my mirror, with 2 fingers i sadly rub my obsolete nose bridge, and sigh.
O woe is me.

Random day after work at IKEA

Jumbo day so far away...

Backdated somewhere Mid June

During the 2 weeks Dad was back with us in Sg, we (family + Sweetheart) had lots and lots of yummilicious foodie... This is one of it. 3 cheers for Jumbo Seafood Restaurant @ East Coast Park!!!

I don't know about you, but just plainly looking at the pictures now is making me very very hungry. There was lobster, crabs, scallops, abalone, prawns, fish, etc etc. *drool drool droolsss*

We stuffed ourselves silly that day until i couldn't even walk straight, and Glen almost couldn't button his pants. Whats most important is that Dad was uber happy because just like me, he is also a BIG SEAFOOD BUFF! Our eyes light up with brimming tears of JOY whenever seafood is mentioned. HAhha...

2 Questions from the Queen of Randomness.

I, being the true & blue random one, have 2 questions to ask everyone.

The 1st one, Im seeking for an answer.
The 2nd one, Im seeking for opinions.

Question 1: In traditional Chinese funerals, there has been this age-old act of culture that blankets with words of condolences & assurance would be sent to mourning families to hang around the funeral procession. These blankets, whether thin towel types or fluffy comforter types, would be super colorful with lots of big cut & paste pictures/Mandarin words on them.

My question now is, why does it have to be a blanket? If they needed banners to be put up, why not just any other piece of cloth?
I mean, even the low-quality towel-type blankets are offered as lower-cost options.
If say, blankets aren't a meaningful symbolic article, I would be picking a piece a cloth of similar cost but not having that bumpy thready texture you feel on your skin every morning after your bath. I heard that after the funeral, anyone who would like to take the blankets home, would be welcome to do so.

Is there a symbolic meaning? Does it have anything to do with some superstition or wordplay? I've tried matching the Chinese word for blanket up to see if i can get anything, but nada zilch. I've also asked albout everyone in my office already, but nobody knows.

Soooo, please enlighten me...

Question 2: Suppose you never had a belly button, and God asks you now,

"Hey ______, I think i'd like to add a belly button on you today! I'll let you decide. Would you like an innie or outtie...?"

Which would you choose?
(Innie or outtie only... don't tell me flattie or could you please please pretty please have a heart shape painted instead. No.)
I do know both have their cons. Like innie collects dirt, and outtie looks like a 3rd nipple. But hey, you gotta make one here!

Haha, i know these are soooo random, but yes, please do answer them...
And the silent ones who have been reading my blog too. (See also: Michelle & the occasional Siew)

Heeheehee...
