If you've watched the movie Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events, you'd have caught the short cartoon that the film begins with.
I think IT IS DA BOMB!!!
Haha... I cannot imagine a more happy and cheery cartoon than this!
I'd forgotten all about it until the movie was recently aired on tv. While the actual plot that moves the story is good, my favourite part of the show would be this pre-movie clip of a mini cartoon of The Littlest Elf which plays at the start of the show, serving as a warning, peppered with humourous irony, to alert the audience to the gloomy plot of the movie; That we should not expect to find anything happy alike The Littiest Elf.
I've managed to find only 1 video clip of it on Youtube. Here it is;
The Littlest Elf
"Bum buttery flit fluttery
Dum diddly-ooh
Bum buttery bluebird is singing a tune
Daffodil dillies awaken and prune
Bursting in bloom
All the flowers assume
It's a loverly, loverly spring
[Littlest Elf funny giggling] :3
Chit-chattery chipmunks all singing along
Humming their join-in-a-spring-along song
Spring is the springiest time for a song
It's a loverly, loverly spring
In the forest we play with the rabbits all day"
Isn't the elf UTTERLY CUTE??? And the animals and the flowers and everything swaying left and right to the song. I love his chuckle and giggle and ESPECIALLY the way he tries to blows the butterfly away from his nose (I made Ed imitate that expression that again and again just because it is so cute). I love the way he was frozen with his smile still plastered on his face yet eyes blinking away like 'What happened??' at the screen when it blacked-out at the end.
But if you realise at 0.38secs into the video, the scene where one of his Elven friends is surrounded by cute animals, swaying and waving to the happy music, you'll see that his Elven friend is actually a hunter! He has a rifle and the full gear! You can also make out part of an animal trap sitting strategically at the bottom-right corner of the screen looking innocent! A random butterfly even lands on it.
Isn't it weird? I mean here is this little guy, strapped with an entire round of bullets across his chest and being all friendly and chummy with the perfect soon-to-be victims which include 2 white lambs, 1 black one, a little deer, a bear whose head was cut of by the screen apparently because of his height, and also a seal. Yes a seal! What is a seal doing in the forest????!
Don't even get me started on why it is blue.
Doesn't make any sense at all! But THAT IS THE CUTENESS OF IT ALL!
I wish the cartoon would just carry on but unfortunately it stops short there. I think it would be an overload of sugar-coated caramel-dressed nauseating cuteness for those with an allergy for cuteness.
I love the lyrics as well!
Especially their adorable made-up phrases!
'Loverly, loverly spring' So CUTE! Lover-ly!
'Spring is the springiest time for a song' What in the world does 'springiest' mean??? Who cares?! It IS CUTE!
I cannot stop singing the song these days.
It plays in my head when I'm at work even!
Somebody save me from this spiral of over-cheerfulness!
