The Horror

Ok this creeps me out.

3 Fridays ago i headed out to the Singapore National Museum with dearest Aisyah for the Night Festival event.
And as usual, we took many many photos of stuff and us over there.
One of the places we took a picture together was on the infamous Spiral Staircase that's on the 2nd floor of the Museum where the huge dome is. Of course, at that point of time we did not know it was 'infamous'.

So the story goes that we were on sugar-rush the moment we entered the museum due to awe and whatever reason worth being excited for, and we wanted to take pictures everywhere and of everything.
Snap snap snap snap.
And then we saw this really err gothic-victorian styled spiral staircase that was just so pretty.
It was very narrow, steep, dark-chrome-coloured and made out of some kind of metal. It also had nice fleur-de-lis and motiffs as the structure's design. We also noticed that the spiral stairway leads no where. if you looked up to the top of it, you'd see that it's been blocked off by a white board or a false ceiling or something. So we just thought the staircase is prolly for decorational purposes only and isnt supposed to be used as a real stairway.

Yup so we got the nearest security guard to snap the shot for us with me camphone. (Digicam ran out of batt by that time.)
While returning my phone to me, he abruptly decided to mention to us, albeit cheekily, that the place is known to be haunted and to check our pictures carefully when we get home because pictures taken of that staircase sometimes, but not all the time, turn out with extra somethings.

Aisyah's face suddenly looked like she just flunked an examination paper and kept dragging me away by my arm.
For me, i thought he was just kidding. Seeing we're like 2 silly giggly girls, he was prolly trying to scare us and all. So i didnt give a damn la seriously.

So anyways, all was fine and dandy from that day, until late one night. I was resizing the hugely-sized pictures near 12 midnight and i saw something my eyes didnt catch while the pictures were in its big form.

Ok imagine you were me and you took a picture and looked at it and there's an extra 'someone' behind you.
YES THAT WAS THE SHOCK.

There was this very faintly translucent blurred image of a lady's sunken face right peeping out from the side of Aisyah's head.
It's so sunken, it's almost skeletal skull-like.
You can make out her sunken eyes, nose, mouth and long hair.
And there's even this headgear right on top.
Looks like a tiara, or a victorian-fashioned hair accessory, a hood, or a very intricately braided hair bun.
She was just there. In the picture.
An extra 'person'.

To tell you the truth, I did consider putting the picture up on this blog. But after some further deliberation, I've decided not to.
I dont think I should dwell on it, or be encouraging people to dwell on it either.
And i think some people might not want to be subjected to such visual-mental disturbance anyways.
Also, i want my blog be a relatively happy place! As much as i would like to put it down in words, i believe a photo makes it worse. hahas..

I sent it over to Aisyah by email, because in my wild fright/excitement/shock, i blabbed and sputtered about it to her over the phone.
While checking the picture out, her phone line went dead in mid conversation. That's pretty scary.

The next day, we loaded the pic on her office computer just so we could discuss if that was real or just a case of a vivid imagination.

Because we were making such a racket, random ppl came round to see whatsabout.
Out of 10, about 8 were convinced it's real.
The other 2 were skeptical by nature and unconvinced, saying it's probably the reflection in the curtains, or the divergence of light, or just the fold of the curtains forming the facial features and hair and all.

Don't know how that's possible when those real long ceiling-to-floor curtains were made out of thick heavy material and were starch-straight all the rest of the way.
We know. Because we touched those curtains. But i guess it's a matter of opinions. It might look ambiguous to someone skeptical.

Googled the 'Singapore National Museum Spiral Staircase' and yes, the security guard wasn't shittin' us.
It really is haunted and people have seen figures lurking on it, and when proceeded to climb the staircase, some felt deliberate pushing forces.
That is why the staircase has a red rope barring further ascend on the 3rd step, and the top of the stairway is sealed by that false ceiling.

Anyways, creepy.
